Yesterday, during his DICE keynote, Gabe Newell, co-founder and managing director of game development at Valve, stated that the team behind Team Fortress 2s Meet the video series is currently working on Team Fortress 2 comics.
No other details were mentioned about the comics, except that they are a tactic to get gamers excited about Valves Games.
Personally, I love this idea. I am a huge comic book nerd and I feel that, despite not having a story, Team Fortress 2 is full of interesting and funny characters that would be at home in a comic. This just serves as a testament to how genius the folks over at Valve are. They have done such a good job with character design that players are able to determine the personalities of the characters just by what they say and how they say it. In the course of his oration - as reported by GameSpot - he revealed that Valve was working on a Team Fortress 2 comic, and that it would be made by the game's original creators. Newell said that he didn't want to hand over the project to "some third-party hoping to make a quick buck and take advantage of some opening weekend marketing push.
